What’s Happening...
There is just a short time until the 2009 Cancer Society Relay for Life. The Coders Against Cancer are still fighting for a first place finish. “We’re not far behind” commented team Captain Stacey Hayes, “we’ve got a strong team and I’m confident we’ll move from 4th to 1st place.”
There is still time to pledge the Coders Against Cancer in this year’s Relay for Life. Get your pledges in by June 10th and we’ll include your company logo on our t-shirts, website and campsite decorations. And don’t forget, every dollar you pledge will be matched up to $10,000!
Using Your Website in a Down Economy
Your website is an important tool in your marketing package, but during a time when the economy is down, it becomes even more crucial. In general, people are more cautious of how they are spending their money and doing their research before buying. In fact, according to a 2008 Pew Internet & American Life Study, “When the product in question requires a large commitment by a buyer, the internet’s influence on the choice is greater.” 1
A number of studies find that the web is an important tool for people when they are researching a purchasing decision. In other words, if you don’t have a website or your website doesn’t catch potential buyers attention when they start looking, you won’t be an option when they finish.
Consumers are seeking out money saving discounts online as an easy way to save a few bucks. So you may want to think about using your website, or a mass email to offer past and potential customers a discount giving your company the edge over the competition.

Lesson Learned!
In a down economy, it is important to have a website with up to date, useful information for potential buyers. Provide potential customers the information they need and then encourage them to visit your brick and mortar store, or call you directly from your website. If your website offers a professional, welcoming feel with information that buyers are looking for, there is a good chance that those buyers will come to you when making a final decision.
