Wired Solutions recently developed two major new features within eCampusOntario.ca to support the continued growth of the application. Navigation Menu and Help Management tools now allow Super Admin users to create and apply custom navigation menus, and comprehensive help text within eCampusOntario.ca user interfaces.

Wired Solutions custom developed eCampusOntario.ca from the ground up in 2015, working alongside the Ontario Online Learning Consortium (OOLC). eCampusOntario.ca was created as a fully inclusive portal for learners looking to find online and mostly online courses at Ontario colleges and universities. The portal includes dedicated browsing and keyword search functionality, as well as intuitive filtering tools designed to support learners in finding the online and mostly online courses that fit their academic requirements. In addition, eCampusOntario.ca offers extensive decision-making information, such as links to scheduling information, tuition and fees, instructor details, and registration and transfer credit information. Through the information provided and the highly refined application search functionality, students are  successfully using eCampusOntario.ca to search for the specific courses they require.

eCampusOntario.ca continues to grow exponentially since its initial launch last year. Colleges and universities continue to add new online and mostly online courses and programs to the portal, while student uptake continues to increase.

In response to this growth, Wired Solutions recently developed two major new features within eCampusOntario.ca. These new features, comprised of Navigation Menu and Help Management tools, were developed to support eCampus Ontario Super Admin users, and the collective vision for the continued growth of eCampus Ontario.

With the newly developed and fully integrated Navigation Menu engine, Super Admin users are able to update and modify static navigation menus throughout the eCampus Ontario portal. This new feature also allows Super Admin users to create custom navigation menus that can then be attached to content pages within the public facing eCampus portal. The ability to modify static and protected navigation menus allows Super Admin users to add child items, or sub-navigation menus to the main navigation menus found throughout the portal. In this way, Super Admin users can update changing content, or highlight new pages, such as the recent addition of a dedicated web page for public calls for proposals. Similarly, the ability to attach custom navigation menus to content pages allows Super Admin users to direct application users to relevant and useful content and web pages within eCampusOntario.ca. This works to ensure that student users gain access to important decision making information and online course registration details. The image below highlights the inclusion of a custom Navigation Menu within a content page, made possible through the use of the Navigation Menu management engine. 

The addition of our robust, custom Help Management engine gives Super Admin users full control over the creation and management of help text throughout eCampusOntario user interfaces. Wired Solutions developed the Help Manager to allow Super Admin users to define Help Areas, Help Interfaces, and Help Items. Super Admin users are now able to write customized help text to facilitate end users. The image below highlights the process of creating a new Help Item within the new Help Management Engine.

Help text can be displayed in a dialog box, in a new tab, or as a tooltip, depending on the help text use case. Once a Help Item is created, Super Admin users can assign the help text to a static element, such as a label, button, or title, within support user interfaces.
