Seat Reservation System

Students across the province will now have equal access to online learning, thanks to a collaborative effort from the Ontario Ministry of Education and Wired Solutions.

As part of e-Learning Ontario, guidance counsellors now have the ability to sign up students to online courses anywhere in the province – even those as far apart as the Greater Toronto area, the northern climes of Timmins or the sunny Rose City of Windsor, all, now as close in proximity as cyberspace.

It’s all part of the Seat Reservation System or SRS, an application developed from the ground-up by Wired Solutions. It was designed to address several key concerns put forward by the Ministry, as well as provide the framework for regularly-planned additions in the future.

Wired Solutions worked closely with counsellors, teachers, board representatives and students – all of whom had their own individual needs and thoughts on what would make for the best system. The result is easy-to-use, web-based software that also allows a student’s progress to be reported back to their actual learning institution.

Other features include an extensive account and user management system that allows each individual school board rep the ability to manage their own board with unique user accounts. The accounts are also segregated by board, in order that the information contained therein is private to that respective organization.

An added administrative feature allows for the Ministry to impersonate an account for diagnostic and troubleshooting purposes.

Tech Specs: This system is based on ASP.NET MVC and SQL Server 2008 framework.
