Town of Amherstburg Website

When working with a government website accessibility is important. The town of Amherstburg needed a site that promoted the town to Tourist and Businesses, yet offered Residents a fundamental hub for information. Understanding this, Wired Solutions was able to create a website that was attractive, functional and met accessibility standards set by W3C, the authority in Internet regulations.

The website has a complex permission based Content Management System that allows the township to make easy updates to the site. Website administrators can set accounts for Town employees so that they can help in keeping the site up to date.

To keep residents and visitors well informed of upcoming events the website also has an event management system. Events can be categorized and displayed on the site in either a calendar or listing view. Each event has a detail page where images, information and an interactive Google map can be found. Similar to the events listing is the attractions listing. A website administrator can log in and add new attractions, display images and interactive maps.

The site includes an extensive categorized business listing which will allow residents and tourist to find addresses and phone numbers for all of Amherstburg’s businesses. Interested businesses can upgraded to a premium listing with detail page which nicely displays a logo, images, interactive Google map and further information about the business.

As an added functionality the website visitors can plan their day directly from the new website each Event, Attraction and Business Listing can be added to a visitor’s itinerary. The itinerary can then be printed and used as a handy guide with information maps, and personal notes for those visiting the town.
