Safe Food Counts

Do you know how safely the food is handled at your favourite eating establishment? Wish there was an easy way to access the most-recent food safety inspection reports? Now, you can - with “Safe Food Counts” – and Wired Solutions is proud to have played a major role in bringing it to light.

Safe Food Counts is an initiative from the Windsor Essex Health Unit with a three-pronged aim of improving food safety standards, reducing the risk of food-borne illness and raising consumer awareness of food safety.

To do this effectively, however, the Health Unit realized they needed a professional web development service to help make it so. That’s when they contacted Wired Solutions, and we immediately went to work in helping them achieve their goals.

While the concept of the web site may have been simple, the development was anything but. First, we gathered all the existing data from reports made by the various food safety inspectors. From there, we displayed the relevant results, along with a search filter and detail pages for each location.

Users may type in the individual name of an establishment, or, simply select one from the list provided.

To help heighten the end-user experience, we also included several other features, including, the integration of Google Maps to each location; a save to PDF option for later viewing or printing purposes, an email link – and – Facebook share button.

This experience was also made available for both traditional viewing and hand-held devices – meaning – you can now access this information from anywhere (including the restaurant itself, simply by using your internet-equipped hand-held device).

Finally, grocery stores, restaurants and convenience stores will also be able to post their own current rating on their respective website, thanks to an easy plug-in developed by Wired Solutions.
